The German magazine Der Spiegel has an article comparing lift prices (in Euros) in alpine resorts which may be of interest. Although the report is in German, the table of prices for 6-day passes can be easily understood (and also provides the prices for 2009/10 and 2010/11, which makes frightening reading, especially if you're going to Switzerland).

Luckily I got 2 for 1 lift passes in Zermatt then... Pffff.... Obertauern is prob the best value for money surely? And also the only one on the list that actually dropped their price...

For all those who would like to read the article try google translate. Going to Les Arcs in January, nice to see the prices have not gone up

Interesting. It set me thinking about the arbitrage opportunities either side of the border in the Portes du Soleil.
6 day PDS pass is CHF 270 or Euro 216. At today's XR (from xe.com) that means it is Euro 5.27 cheaper the French side. Not much but it's your first beer for free!

We've booked 6 day Salt Lake Super Pass again ( covers all the Cottonwood Canyon mountains, Utah ) Last years was £250 for thew 6 days, this year have pre booked it with the same place for £234, so things might be a little tight over there atm. The dollar value is around the same as last year too.

How confident are we on the prices in this article?
The three valleys pass on their website is quoted at 241 (which i think is the same as last year) & Paradiski is 254
Or am I missing something?

kioksor, Der Spiegel is usually held to be quite good at checking their facts here in Germany. They got quite seriously burned by accepting an article at face-value in the 80s/90s on the Red Army Faction (similar to Stern's little faux-pas with the Hitler Diaries) and now tend to check things fairly rigorously. They are definitely seem as one, if not the leading, independent current affairs magazines of which there are several to choose from (Der Spiegel, Stern, Focus and Die Welt am Sonntag)
The Three Valleys price is (as they all are) quoted in Euro and is probably their high season rate. Most Germans who travel to France tend to go in the high season periods due to not being able to take their children out of school without risking a fine.

Well spotted, kioksor. I must admit that I didn't check the prices. I have written to Der Spiegel, asking them to explain the anomaly and I'll let you know if I receive any reply.

under a new name, It doesn't cost anything - we pass through Morgins on the way to Chatel. No good to me though as the saving is on the French side where we buy them anyway.
Exchange rate could change though!

The most expensive is Zermatt at Euro 344 but skiing from Cevinia costs Euro 258 for the same 6 day international pass.

Jungfrau is €254 for 6 days or £218 - which is ballpark I think.
