Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Scott goggles - natural light lenses, what are they like??

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all

Ordered some Scott goggles, and instead of the style in the picture, I got the new season updated style sent to me, with different lenses. The ones "in the picture" had cat 2 Amplifier lenses, the one's I've received have got cat 1 lenses, Scott's lens type is "NL-45".

My question is, how much difference will this make? My current lenses are no good in flat light, hence me wanting some that have a bit more of a range , but will I really notice a difference between cat 1 and 2?

I'm in two minds to return them, but don't want to jump the gun if the consensus is that they'd be okay.

Help!!!

I have used this new Scott NL 45 lens and they are excellent in low to medium light days. Fantastic definition on the slope and for my eyes at least better than a orange or pink 'tint'.
The "NL-45" means it has a light transmission of 45% (the amount of light it let's in). They also do a NL-15 which is a Cat 3 lens (with chrome) that has a light transmission of 15% (blocking out a lot of light) which would be good for those sunny days.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Cheers Marky - how do you find them on a sunny day? Bit concerned I'd get too much glare, if that's the case, I may well return them.

They will be OK on a sunny day but not great as they don't have chrome and are a low-medium light lens.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

They're going back, already decided, going to look at either Bloc or Bolle, it seems I can easily get cat 2 lenses on most styles.
