Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Good goggs for kids

Kids both have Salomon Kiana helmets and was thinking of getting them some goggles (perhaps from Santa) to go with them. Any recommendations for well fitting goggs for the Kiana? They're 9 and 11 years old, in a 51-55cm helmet.

Julbo Astro worth a try, but might not be easy to get. My son has a Salomon Equipe helmet and the lady in a very good shop in ADH last year must have tried more than 10 pairs of goggles on him, all different brands, before she found a good fit. These are very good, fit and quality excellent. We've been happy with them.

Thanks sarah, I'll have a look around. Decathlon seem to have them (but of course the nearest one's miles away...).

andy from embsay, I have a box full of kids goggles - bloc, bolle, etc - the best I've found are double lens Smith with a cat2 orange lens, these are good for low light, while a single lens dark Decathlon is used by both on bright sun days.

valais2, good point, we had Smith Sundance Kid before the Julbo ones, they were very good too until they became badly scratched. Then with a new Salomon helmet the Julbo ones were more compatible too. We also had several 'tries' with Sinner, Bloc, Spy, Carrera. Getting a good fit on kids is no easy task!

andy from embsay, Decathlon will post out if you ring them or you can order from them online although it can be an odd process.

my grand-daughter's answer to this was "the pink ones". she wasn't bothered about the fit, and as it was not sunny weather, she mainly wore them on her helmet. But my, did she love them! wink

sarah, ...was trying to remember the model - and you are spot on, the Sundance model (we have them in black frames, yellow, silver and blue) and they match Giro and RED helmets perfectly, with an excellent seal between the two. But note the Sundance comes in two models - single lens (not good) and double (excellent).

valais2, Smile yes, the Sundance fitted perfectly with the old helmet which was a Giro, but not at all really with the new one. Our Sundance was a double lens as is the new Julbo. Main thing with both these in terms of face fit on a younger child is the fact that the distance between the top of frame and nose indent is not too great. If it is (as with many goggles) then the kid pushes the goggles up from the nose so they can breathe! and in doing so forces the helmet too far back on the head which is not good and also then can't see out well over the lower edge of the frame which is too close to the eyes!
