Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Soft Shell Jackets

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I have just returned to skiing in the last 2 years after a 20+ year gap. Many things have changed, not least the size and shape of my skis! Now the kids are big enough and they seem to enjoy the white stuff I thought I would treat myself to a new jacket for this year. At the moment I have been making do with a padded Mountain Warehouse bargain but would like to trade up to a soft shell jacket. I'm looking at things like the Haglofs Fang or the Montane Sabretooth. Neither of these are ski specific so am I better off looking at more specialist, and hence more pricey offerings like the Haglofs Couloir? Any feedback and suggestions welcome.

Yes go for a ski model as it will have nice features like a sleeve pocket for your pass and a snow skirt to keep the cold stuff out when it all goes wrong! If you are concerned about price wait a few weeks and no doubt Aldi will have some sub £50 soft shell ski jackets when their adult ski offers come in. Yo don't get the flashy branding but you do get a jacket that would cost several times the price from a big name.
