Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

What, posted a lot of tangential porn on an alleged snowboard site? www.illicitsnowboarding.com got there first, I think. On several occasions. Laughing

That's because it isn't our business to break news and videos online, simply provide fun content with the Chronicals blog - but thanks for the feedback Zero-G

@Lizzard I think the Illicit Snow blog is genius and very funny. I quite often use some of their stuff for Facebook page posting inspiration - with their permission. I wouldn't want to copy it and have actively promoted it (and networked online with them) many times. It's a sharing of info thing. This particular blog also links out to YOBEAT (the source of the last, very funny spoof video) - another satirical site we love.

So the "We've Done It Again" actually means we've link monkeyed a lot of hackneyed stuff from elsewhere on tinterweb. not commissioned or developed original material of our own & then spam linked it from other forums etc

Well done.

fatbob, thank you for your comments. As I have said to you before, we have a pretty extensive online network and we like to share content from other blogs, websites etc. This isn't spam linking - it's link sharing and benefits the sites we link to as well as ourselves and is practised by bloggers all the time. It's pretty basic, info sharing stuff sure. Guilty as charged. Please don't read it if you believe it to be non-entertaining. The 112 page views this had in it's first hour of post tell us that we are doing something right.

To give you an example of what we do - we love the Rehab: Snow, Snow, Snow tshirt from Snowheads and I had planned to put it in a post in the future as I KNOW many of our student age followers would like it - if we link to this forum and then hundreds of people who follow us through the social media networks buy it - is that spam linking?

Remember the Ten Things Not to Take on Your Snowboard Instructor Course post? Lots of our followers commented on wanting to buy the 'assemble me' teeshirt. We don't know how many actually did because we didn't run over to the site and say 'look what we did for you.'

This is a great site - that's why we are here. And it sells something too. Would you think it was wrong taking it to the social media networks to boost sales of the merchandise? And when you do, try to keep it engaging and cost effective for a long period of time by only creating and using your own commissioned material.

Tough community...

snowskool, You've been given this feedback before but you're undermining your genuine contributions by your periodic need to post a blatant thread intended to increse traffic to your own site. If people are interested they'll look anyway. Personally I think your "blog" looks like you're trying too hard with a "look at us and see how much we don't take ourselves seriously" vibe but maybe your target gap yah market laps that up.

Oh & don't pretend that you're an innocent amateur blogger so all "link sharing" is fair game, you're a commercial enterprise, some suckers may fall for the "we're just in it for the stoke" but I doubt it.

Tough community...

Above, you say that you had planned to post about the snowHeads T-shirt. But that's pie in the sky - you haven't actually done it.

Then you go on to extol the virtues of snowHeads and that promoting it via your networks will be beneficial. But you don't promote snowHeads via your networks.

In a PM to me, you say you "mention Snowheads pretty often in [your] networking medium" Really?

A simple bit of digging reveals:
* Not a not a single mention of snowHeads on your blog
* Not a single mention of snowHeads on your website
* Not a single mention of snowHeads on your Facebook page - you haven't even 'liked' the snowHeads Facebook page
* One mention of @snowheads on your Twitter feed but that tweet was about instruction at Milton Keynes, so not much of a stretch since your business is about providing instruction.

Based on the above, your response (both in PM and on the forum) about being called out for spamming has been decidedly disingenuous.

Ski the Net with snowHeads
The Facebook page goes back a long, long way and there have been mentions. We have tweeted about snowheads a few times in the past - I recall including the link to the teeshirt mentioned as I personally liked it so much. We went to the Snowheads page to like it but it didn't appear to be active so haven't followed the page for that reason - there is nothing to read about - unless I have the wrong page so feel free to point me in the right direction whereby we are more than willing to share links across our networks as we do with many other pages. We looked for Snowheads on Twitter too but found no account - again tell us if there is one and we will happily tweet about Snowheads.

I did say the t-shirt was in a planned post (my thoughts for this were a Christmas giftlist post - I was reading about the SnowHeads calendar this morning too and that was in there) and these do take a while to put together. I have a list as long as my arm of blog ideas swimming around to be fair.

I'm always receptive to ideas for content and links to include in our blogs - both on the light hearted Chronicles blog and our official company blog (full of our own commissioned, self generated content) which we have not referred to on here. I do take on board your point about posting links to sites that have allowed us to post our blog link - this is an excellent idea which I have taken to action right away. The link is now on the Chronicles post in thanks.

We don't pretend not to be a commercial enterprise. Snowheads is a commerical enterprise too.

In the spirit of networking - which we do take seriously - we will do two the following show that your comments are taken onboard:

1) PM admin and offer to include SnowHeads merchandise in a Christmas giftlist blog - which we promise not to post here if it is considered spammy.
2) Not post the Chronicles blog links in future
3) Ask admin for social media account links so that we can cross share info in the networks more easily

I hope this answers everything

I bought one for Mr L, who has a bad habit of disassembling himself.

Limited point in mentioning @snowheads on Twitter, since SHs is so inactive on there as to be dormant. Three whole tweets and currently following two accounts, one of which seems to be itself. (Why would you follow yourself?)

snowskool, I feel you're generally out of luck on here, as they tend to be a miserable bunch of antiquated ski types who aren't going to like anything you do come what may. Laughing
