Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

There's a garage near us offering a similar deal, but no mention that they should only used on snow and if driven any distance on tarmac will tear, nor that winter tyres are what most people need. However, they do point out that they can be washed Puzzled

Hmm, look identical to the ones Saab say I should have for my 93 but Saab want £75 for them. Probably worth it for that price (yes I'm looking into winter tyres as well, if I can figure where to store the summer ones till the spring!) given all the hills round here!

welshskier, Thanks is it one of the chains or an independent? Usually get my tyres from the local mechanic who certainly doesn't have much room for storage!

welshskier, You cant use any socks or chains on bare reads or they will wear out very quickly
They are also not acceptable as an alternative to chains if you are heading to the alps
Fine if you need some extra grip in snow to get yourself unstuck though
Seems a good price if you are thinking of getting a set

Yep Garfield, I've bought a set at that price as a just in case given I live on the edge of the Peak District.

davkt, it's just a little independent I've used for years. He didn't even sell me the winter tyres.

Garfield, that's what I said. I've got winter tyres & chains (about £30 in France if I remember right), so I'm sorted
