Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

New Skis advice

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi

I've just bought my first pair of skis (2nd hand ebay treat) and wanted some advice on (A) setting the bindings for my height/weight/ability and (b) waxing/servicing/edging.

On point (a), is it best for me to take it them into a shop in the UK and just ask them to set them up for me and then wax/edge? Or can I do point (a) myself quite easily from home, and just take them into shop to do the waxing/servicing/edging?

Thanks

If you want to set the bindings yourself plug your details into something like http://www.dinsetting.com/ (or use what your rental sks are normally set to)

What Dot. said, if you are anywhere near Notts Jon is highly recommended.

Otherwise I'd suggest getting a decent shop to take a look and check the bindings over. I'm sure you could set them up but it's worth having a pro check there are no obvious faults/issues - you want to make sure they release when they should.

For servicing, any decent shop will service them.

Suggest you post whereabouts you are and the helpful folks on here will recommend a good shop.

Enjoy,
Gary

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

maidstone98, It's just a feeling, but I would have thought if you go to a shop for edge and wax and ask their technician (assuming they are qualified) to check the settings on the bindings for you at the same time that they might do it within the same cost.

You'll need to Register first of course.

PLEASE, even if not to me here at Edge & Wax, take them to a tech to sort this out for you, unless you want to learn to do yourself, Jons advertising people have already been on wink but if you are darn sarf, we are north of Brighton and have a full workshop, and a training centre (www.bctt.co.uk)

But do get them checked if in doubt, knees are expensive to fix, I speak from experience!
