Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Bargain flights to the Alps expected, as seats go into surplus

Tens of thousands of extra seats to the Alps this winter could be sold at bargain fares, especially mid-week. A surplus of seats is expected from the number of new destinations and departure airports.

Mark Frary reports for the Sunday Times.

if you have paid for easyJet flights and they get cheaper subsequently, they will refund the difference - but only if you ask

pam w, that is interesting. How do you go about doing it? Do you just call them or is it possible to do online?

Almost right, Nadenoodlee. Call the customer service line 0871 244 2366 which costs a bargain 10p a minute. Refunds are in the form of credit against another future flight, but that's not usually a problem.

I didnt realise it either - have looked on the sleazy site - ....They do have a "price promise" just as Pam said. Its under their FAQs and you call customer services on 0871 244 2366 at 10p per minute to claim .... which isnt toooo bad eh. I never knew this - so thanks Pam (snowheads strikes again). xx

boredsurfin, there's an even better online offering that works out the best price point to point, pitting all the carriers against each other - www.skyscanner.net -

On the Easyjet flights, I got a tenner credit after one of our winter flights for Jan 2005 went down in price.

As has rightly been said, you do have to call the 10p a minute line to claim it and they give you a refund code and "password" - you then have to ring the 10p a minute line to use the credit but they do sell the new ticket to you at the web price rather than the phone one - also the booking using the credit had to be made within six months of the credit being awarded.

Finally, if I remember rightly there was a get out clause for them if the price was reduction was part of a special promotion (presumably like when they have loads of tickets to the Alps to sell in November Confused ) - in that case the refund did not apply.

One other tip when buying Easyjet flights - If you have more than one ticket to book, Easyjet will price all tickets at the price applying to the most expensive "band" you go into. Therefore the trick to getting the best price is to enter the total number of seats you need but don't book the seats - just note the price quoted.

Then go back to the start and request one seat on the same flights. If the price per seat is the same then you are in one price band and you can just book the total number of seats you require. If the price per seat is different then your booking spans two price bands and you need to increase the seats you are booking by one until you find the seat that tips you into the next price. Then book one less ticket and they will be at the lower price band and then book the remaining tickets.

Couple of words of caution -

1) the price could have course have gone up further if others have just booked tickets on the same flights whilst you have been messing about with the stuff I have written above.

2) If you are booking early then there should be no availability problem but if you are not then there is the possible chance that somebody could snaffle the last seats while you try to save a few quid.

No liability accepted if either happens to you but I've saved a bit of cash doing this when booking tickets for six of us for last winter and 2005-2006.
