Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Info needed for a new website - snow reports piste maps

Hi All

I am in the process of starting up a new winter web site and I am trying to find somewhere I can get the following info, without links back to another site?

I need the following for all resorts.

Piste Maps
Snow reports.

I have done some Google searches but a lot of the info goes back to existing sites which are trying to advertise.
Does anyone know of any good places to get the info?

Any help would be great.

thanks

Lloyd

loydx, piste maps will involve leg work - you'd need to approach each resort and have them send you pdf of latest map (many sites have out of date maps so don't grab 'em unless you also want to be out of date). Contacting each resort also means they are hearing about you so not a bad idea anyway.

Snow reports - like you say you can embed links to Snow Forecast, On The Snow etc or you can pay subscription to Ski Club GB. If you really want to be a hero try and work out your own meaningful system because the ones I see bare little resemblance to the actuality... and they say daft things like "the best conditions can be found on the upper slopes".

Welcome, by the way snowHead

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

thanks Bode for your reply.

Good point about getting on to them directly. I will do that.

As for the weather. I suppose I was wondering where those sites actual get their info from. I agree a lot of the the time they do bare little resemblance to the actual.

thanks again for the advice.

loydx, Do you realise how many resorts there are out there and how much work you're going to need to do to make a decent site if you are going to do it all yourself?

There are people out there who already have the information which they can supply to you, at a cost of course: have a look at snow24.com and speak to Patrick.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Quality before quantity, so many websites have tiny piste map pdfs that are too low resolution to read.
