 Poster: A snowHead

One of my skis has slightly delaminated in the tail, I've had it glued and it seems to have held OK.
It's a pair of 03 Volkl Explosives 190, and despite having tested around 8 pairs I've found it really hard to get a pair of skis in similar dimensions but still this stiff, although didn't try the 06 Volkl range (some interesting look toys in that quiver). I like the idea of Drake Boinays but I can't test them 
The Explosives will become my rock skis so I'm planning to rivet the tails on both skis (will do the tips at the same time, just because I can).
Any tips before I get my drill out?

Don't use pop rivets, they will project below the surface of the ski and cause all sorts of stability issues

D G Orf, he could he counter-sink first and then P-Tex over the hole. If that works, you could use a flat head bolt which would give a very "industrial" look on the top sheet

For rock hoppers, is it really necessary? If it's just slight, I probably wouldn't bother - or try superglue or something?

I ski quite hard and could do without the whole ski splitting on me. I've seen some rivets that would allow me to have a flat side on the base and the mount on the top sheet - a little like the K2 version appearing on a few pairs of their skis. Just need to source the correct nut / bolt / rivet / whatever combo.
Should be fun, I broke a drill bit when mounting the bindings. A Volkl rep friend of mine is convinced the ski has a titanium top sheet (they're the factory model with the yellow sidewall not the green) but never found conclusive proof - bar the broken drill bit.

What glue did you use? Something like Araldite SHOULD hold it together without any trouble.....

The K2 rivets are solid not break stem type. The rivet's made of malleable aluminium and formed with a head on one end, pushed through a hole and the other side peened/presssed/bashed most often with a tool to from the head shape.

Ahhh this is what I need. I think a visit to my local engineering firm is calling.
I just need technical help with the actual type of screw / rivet / whatever would be most suited, surely we have a DIY pro in here?

parlor, my guess is that K2 have some rivets made up for them, what you need to look for is something similar, so a solid metal rivet with a decent sized, perhaps countersunk head on it that will sit flush with the base of the ski and can be peened over perhaps onto a washer on the top of the ski
