hi
we are thinking of doing self catering week to val cenis 4.3.12 -- i've noticed its last week of french holdiays, we normally avoid all school hol's but am worried going on the 10th march will be a bit late, (i know its only a week different!) and we are already going to italy 29th january so we wanted to spread it about, any thoughts how busy it might be?

it will be fairly busy - and 10 March should be absolutely fine.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

cbowls30, it will still be busy but less so than the previous weeks as it isn't Paris holidays. But you should be fine skiing the following week too.

We have never skied that late in the season before, we are bit worried about snow conditions..... We may just hang on and see what the snow is like then book late... Have wanted to go back to val cenis for years ( learnt to ski there at the age of 14 on school ski trip!)

cbowls30, 10 March is by no means late in the season. Not in the slightest.

cbowls30 Val Cenis is normaly not to late to go 10 March, they use to have dumps in March

There are still at least 6 weeks of the season to go from the 10th March. We will be starting two weeks holiday in Serre Chevalier then, along with several SnowHeads on an off-piste trip. There was snow on three out of 7 days of their last one on that week, and that was last season when snowfall was not brilliant.

cbowls30 10th of March should be pretty good really, many less people as well which will keep the resort in better condition as it is

cbowls30, what everyone else said. Go on the 10th, you'll get better value. It's nowhere near 'too late' - I was skiing at the end of last April, despite the fact that it was a rubbish year for snow. In a normal sason there'll be masses of the stuff.

cbowls30, what they're all saying. I'm skiing that week in Les Arcs and expect to find plenty of snow, even at low levels.
