Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Whistler in mid-March ...

Has anyone been?

What are conditions normally like?

I've only been in December / January before where admittedly we had cracking snow even down to resort level.

Thanks!

I've been in mid April. It was brilliant. Powder on 2 of the days from mid station upwards. It did rain a bit at resort level mid afternoon when it was warmest, but it was still snowing further up the mountain. I'm sure you'd get fantastic conditions in March.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I've been late March - bottom half of everything was soft/slush making the quality skiable area relatively limited. Guess it depends on your luck and expectation level but I was disappointed considering it's reputation.

We've been mid-March to mid-April for the last 2 years. Loads of snow and sun to boot ! We're back in March.

March is often the snowiest month, however it is generally a bit warmer so the snow is heavier. That being said, I've had some of my best days skiing in March since it is often quiet / there is also more chance of sunny day after a decent snowfall.

I go mid-March each year, and have generally found it pretty good in terms of snowfall.

That said, you have to be prepared for everything! It can be warm and slushy on the lower mountain as the day warms up (but there's a LOT of upper mountain, which retains good conditions, and a couple of years ago it was cold enough to maintain good conditions right down to the village even at the beginning of April), and it can be re-frozen boiler-plate first thing in the morning in areas exposed to a lot of sunshine the previous day (note: avoid the bumps on 7th Heaven until the day warms up - it can be a real tooth-rattler) - and of course you can get rain up to about the mid-station.

BUT.....I still think it's the best time of the year (as well as being the only time I can get away).

wbsr,
Good to see you're starting to update the web-site again. I'm looking forward to your regular updates through the season!
