Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Need help finding long term accommodation in the St. Anton region

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hey guys what's shakin'?

As a newcomer to the site, let me introduce myself. I'm Jonathan 23 years old from Israel.

I've spent the last season in Revelstoke, BC and hopefully the second part of the coming season in St. Anton, but it appears to be much harder to find long term accommodation there than in Canada.

Pettneu is supposed to be a cheaper solution but again, every place I was able to find through google is either super expensive or fully booked or both.

Do you guys know of any classifieds websites of the region where I could find places to stay and/or roommates?
Or maybe even some of you would like to join in on the fun?

Thanks and my La Nina strike the Alps with all her might.
Jon

Lucky ****, St Anton's ace - enjoy!

Email the St Anton tourist office, they're pretty helpful with stuff like that. Also look at St Jakob - in between Pettneu and St Anton. Pettneu can be a bit of a bitch for apres (unless you pay for a taxi), as the busses take a break in between lifts closing and the night service starting (fine getting to the lifts in the morning though), and it took me about an hour to walk. I did manage to hitch fairly regularly, but being in instructor's uniform helped a lot there (people want tips on where to go). There is a pretty chilled 'old man' style pub in Pettneu though, and a decent pizza place, and an internet launderette!

St Jakob is about a half hour walk, so much more reasonable.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I've contacted the St. Anton tourist office and they've sent me a list of different places. The trouble is they were all for lease as a whole (for 2-6 persons) and not for a single person which is what I need. As I will only be there from February, it makes no sense for me to lease a place on my own and look for roommates then.

You could try looking at Bed and Breakfasts (sometimes called Pensions) - the ski school often put peak season workers in them when the main accom is full, so must be reasonably cheap.

Another option you might want to consider is heading in to MailBox in resort (in the main pedestrianised zone) and checking out the notice board there for any rooms available. By that time there are likely to be some who have disappeared off home for whatever reason and so others will be looking for people to fill the spare beds.

Sitter, what is the MailBox?

Internet cafe on the main street. There's often rooms for rent or jobs available posted on the notice board inside.

You could also try looking on Natives to see if anyone there is looking for people to share a place with. However, it is more about jobs than accommodation, so you might not find much... worth a try though.

Agree with all the above comments, St Jakob is probably a better bet for accommodation, St Anton itself will be very busy and sadly very expensive.

Cheers guys I appreciate the help.

Do you think Ischgl would be easier accommodation wise?

Not sure tbh, I haven't spent much time there. I found Ischgl more expensive overall though. And the offpiste in Anton is better.
