Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Waterproofing

I have some NF Hyvent salopettes that are far from warn out, however I would like to treat them with some sort of waterproofing.

Can anyone suggest what I should use?

Nikwax.

Might be best off asking NF themselves?

If the membrane is leaking, then they're on their way out and adding a DWR treatment like nikwax won't do more than make them more water repellent; they'll never be fully waterproof again. If you do use nikwax, there's approximately a bajillion different colours and flavours, some of which will work much better than others... probably worth dropping nikwax an email ask asking them if they have any helpful advice.

Grangers do waterproofing stuff too; cheaper than nikwax from recollection.

Thanks for the advice, the pants are far from being past there best and thus far have kept me dry, they have had 3 weeks on the mountain plus half a dozen trips indoors so I thought a quick re-waterproofing might give then a bit more 'toughness'.

Hmm, my TNF HyVent pants have done about 50 weeks and it's only in the last couple I've thought they need waterproofing (still keep me dry, but some of the fabric around the ankle 'wets out.' I doubt you need to worry...
