Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

October Skiing

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Friends want to go skiing for a day or so in late October as part of a week in Nice. They only started this year but have got a couple of weeks under their belts and are confident on blues and moving onto reds.

The Tignes glacier seem the obvious choice - it opens in early October and I would have thought it would be within their capability. But can Snowheads suggest anywhere else? I know Isola 2000 is near to Nice but don't think it will be open that early (unless anyone knows different).

Ideas welcome please.

October is properly early - kudos for being keen (and especially to your intermediate friends!)

Someone who knows for sure will be along shortly, but like you I doubt Isola will be open. Les Deux Alpes might be worth a look too - I think it's nearer Nice and has a glacier that probably opens up early. You might also want to look at Zermatt...I have a feeling that opens pretty early and probably isn't all that far away...might not be as big an area as L2A or Tignes, but some spectacular scenary (and prices).

Les Deux Alps is my suggestion, way nearer than any other options.

With 5 hrs to LDA and 6 to Zermatt (approx per Google) and a few days skiing there wont be much left of the week in Nice
