Poster: A snowHead

I have managed to jigger my anterior knee ligaments (too much time on a turbo-trainer) - creaky knees which get painful playing football and running.
Any idea as to how to get in shape for skiing?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Stop running and playing footy!
I have poor knees but have never been fitter, I dont run anymore, but do stuff like boxercise, weight training, circuits, spin and simply freestyle the bits that involve jumping around, spotty dogs sprint starts for example.
Plenty of squats, not very low ones help to strengthen your quads and hams which all look after the knee joint.
Good luck!

Cheers, Snowbum1971. That would please my footy teammates - I am a good keeper but a terrible outfield player, so my staying in goal would suit them.
I'll give some exercises a go........

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I used to play hockey..............in Goal too, but my knee surgeon said stop, so I did, most of my joints, including my knees now feel much better! But I really miss the hockey!

i fully agree with squats but not low, if you go low (with bad knees) you have the opposite effect and place undue pressure on the knees with the potential of pulling/stretching ligaments!

... squats, lunges, wobble boards and cycling. I had an ACL op in February so i'm counting on those exercises to get me through the winter! good luck.
