Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Sweden plan first indoor slope to meet Olympic requirements

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
An indoor slope featuring a 160m drop is planned for Sweden, which will be the world’s only indoor ski-slope that meets the requirements to host a World Cup event. The indoor skiing centre has been designed by CF Møller Architects, and will contain a 700m-long downhill slope, as well as a 3.5km cross-country skiing tunnel, a snow park dedicated to snowboarding, and an arena for biathlon, ice hockey and figure skating.

...The 135m-high building is to be built in a forest just outside Stockholm, and work is expected to start onsite by 2014.

Is it called Skipark 360 because thats how many million quid it's going to cost to build?
Brilliant structure and more power to the project, just not going to hold my breath for it in the current climate.

Why not build it on a 700 metre long hill with a 160 metre drop, would make it much cheaper and not nearly as ugly. That's if it ever get's built at all.

How much leccy will that fridge use in Green Sweden.

For that you need a 160m high hill and I'm not sure that Stockholm, on the coast and surrounded by lakes, has one. A quick web search shows Stockholm does already have a couple of ski hills with about 80m vertical, one being Hammarbybacken which is 82m high, and has a 700m slope down it, so I assume that is about the maximum vertical near Stockholm. The closest real ski-hill appears to be about 2 hours away.

I suppose it depends on how keen Swedes are on skiing through the summer, but the economics do seem somewhat difficult when you can ski outdoors during the winter.

I agree though that some of these fridges are really ugly - I think Chill Factore and MK are both eyesores, as they are built straight up from flat plains (like the picture of this one). Hemel is much better as it is built on a natural hill, and Landgraaf isn't too bad as it livens up an otherwise ugly slag-heap.
