Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Twin Twin Ski Length - Movement Source

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hello to all snowheads, getting into technical nitty gritty! I am owed a pair of Movement Source skis under warranty. I am 170cm tall medium/athletic build.

I know that Movement Sources 169cm are actually 167cm long from tip to tip so I would hazzard guess they are 162cm on the ground (so to speak).

Do I have 169cm (actual length 167cm) or go longer to 177cm (assume actual length is less, say 175cm and 171cm on the ground so to speak).

And oh yeah skiing ability is up there as able to go down anything, but no jumps or tricks!

Any pointers would be appreciated. Cheers.

I'm 5'9" which is around 175. I weigh in at 11 stone and can ski alright - like you I avoid the park but am happy on pistes and love the trees.

I've a pair of 169 flames and a pair of 183 Gladiators. The flames are "regular" skis and the gladiators are twin tips. The flames are perhaps a tad short, the gladiators perhaps a tad stiff. I think I'm trying to say that for me I'd get the longer twin tips, but I'm a smidge taller than you.

roche1800, I ski my 185 Source most of the time, the actual measurement of edge contact on the 185 is 152 when flat. The Source while being traditional camber has a good early tip rise, which makes the ski shorter than you think. Off piste in softer snow they will ski much more like there full length.

I would guess that the 177 sources edge contact will be around 144, we always suggest going up one size on the Source compared to your normal length.

Hope this helps
