Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Any Les Arcs news?

I hear that the old Mont Blanc lift above Arcs 1600 is being replaced.

Here are some pictures of the work http://www.remontees-mecaniques.net/forums/index.php?s=cae7ede99832cb8762fe915d702b8e92&showtopic=12457&st=40

It looks like it is taking a new line through the trees. Are there any other developments for this season?

In La Plagne we have http://www.perso-laplagne.fr/index.html for information. Check out the new Verdons Sud lift for this season and Becoin for next.

Is there any equivalent site for Les Arcs?

Pedantica, cheers for the link. Much appreciated Smile

Does anyone usually run a similar thread for La Plagne?

gravystuffing, it's difficult to find these things, isn't it? The problem is that the reports can be found in any number of different forums. Anyway, this was the general thread for La Plagne last season, I don't think there's been a new one opened yet, but I could be wrong.

The La Plagne thread has always struck me as being more of a mini chat room for a handful of friends and neighbours, so I rarely look at it, whereas the Les Arcs one is more generally informative, especially through snowcrazy's full and regular reports.

gravystuffing, There was a La Plagne thread here but most snowHeads are diverted to Les Arcs Very Happy

I was in Les Arcs over the summer and noticed that not only is a new lift going in from Arc 1600 to finish on the Belvarde piste but they are also cutting a new blue piste snaking across the Deux Tetes black. It is a shame because the deux Tetes has always been one of my favourite pistes and runs down it will now be interputed by the hoards going down the extended Mount Blanc piste.

But the lift has been sorely needed for a number of years and critical since they removed the Gollet out of 1600. However it would have been nice if it stopped on the ridge where the Clocheret stops at the moment then you could ski down directly to the Arc2000 area.

@JohnE - you're right. Fantabulous skiing round there and the red that you sneak onto under the main chair from 1600.

As a long term part-time resident of Les Arcs am constantly having to adjust to find the quiet areas of the mountain. Used to be Peisey, but not since Vanoise Express and lift upgrades. Then became 1600 - new lift will change that. New money is now on 1800 side of the mountain (central pistes that don't go up to ridge) and Villaroger when conditions permit...
