Poster: A snowHead

After 8 years of negotiation with the Forest Service, the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort has had its master plan approved and is to get a $35 million face lift. The expansion will apparently change the face of skiing in Southern Nevada. It includes 10 new chair lifts, 50 new ski runs, more parking, a new lodge and more jobs for locals....Source: http://www.ktnv.com/news/local/125768603.html

Will there be slot machines on the ski runs?

Alastair Pink, thing about Ski Vegas is that it is not really anywhere near Las Vegas. It's a bit like calling Milton Keynes Xscape "Ski London". It won't be ski in / ski out from the strip.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Bode Swiller, Yes, but gambling is legal throughout the state of Nevada, so you tend to find slot machines everywhere eg grocery stores, restaurants. In fact the only place you're not likely to find a (gambling) slot machine is in the restrooms.

Its take 45 min to drive from Las Vegas to LV skiresort,,

Skied at the LV ski & snowboard resort (Lea Canyon) many times. It gets about 12 ft of snow per winter and temps can drop down to -15c regularly so they also make snow. There are only about 7 runs now & the lifts were getting pretty antiquated so the upgrading will be great.
Yep it's about a 45 min drive from Vegas but it's quite surreal driving up from the desert through the mountains with cactus etc then it changes into a pine forest covered in snow!! When you are right at the top of the main red run you can actually look out across the desert which is +30c.
It did used to be in the Virgin ski brochure a few years back as a 2 centre holiday with Vegas.
Alastair Pink, They actually do have slot machines in the rest rooms in Vegas from what I remember.

I've been there a couple of times and it's a nice day out, it's cool suddenly seeing the cactus covered in snow as you head up the hill. Glen Plake did a segment up there in one of his films some quite gnarly tree skiing if you are prepared to hike.
