Excellent! I've never been even though it's only half an hour away. I'll certainly be trying it out when it re-opens, help the Lancashire ski scene!

Ski Rossendale has been saved!
Did you learn to ski or board there? Do you have many happy memories? Were you saddened by the closure in March?
This is an appeal for help to get the slope in tip top condition for its re-opening and to keep it going for you, your children and your grandchildren!!
The slope is now a community facility so the team need the help of the community to create a slope to be proud of.
There are all kinds of jobs to be done, from cleaning, to painting and decorating, gardening, improving the slope..... some volunteers are already helping, but this is a mammoth task and the more the merrier. It is a great community spirit.
If you can spare even a couple of hours over the next few weeks, please pop up to the slope on Haslingden Old Road and get stuck in.
For more details please look at www.skirossendale.co.uk to see when you can help, someone will be there most days.
Thank you

A quick update and its pretty good news. The centre will re-open to the public on tuesday september 6th and the popular kids club will start up on saturday 3rd september. There is an update on the website frontpage www.skirossendale.co.uk
The volunteer response was/is so good (including local yoof hoodies!!) that a huge amount of work is getting done. It looks like both lifts will be running. There is water on all areas of the slope including the bumps. There has been quite a lot of refurbishment already. Its not the finished article, thats going to take some time, but it really is an exciting project. The main slope matting replacement will begin in the near future. Already had loads of enquiries from people who want to ski/board outdoors!!
Anyone who wants to help, donating their time, skills, materials or even cash!, call at the slope any evening or weekend.
I hear there is also an exciting project involving specialised therapists and coaches, very sport specific to skiing and boarding, more info when i get it.
Big society? dunno - but it feels good

Great news - well done everyone, and wish I lived nearby and could help - have spent several happy hours there in the past with CSJ. All the very best for the future.

sunnbuel,
Well done you and all involved, I am not into dry slope skiing myself but my 2 boys used to use the jump slope, probably about once every couple of months for a chill out day, will this be re-opened. Will be along in a couple of weeks just out of curiosity.
BTW the old Ellis Brigham outlet on site, is their any plans for this. Good luck with your venture.

Ruth de Luge, thanks, the amount of support from volunteers and sponsors has been astounding. Thats why the slope is opening ahead of schedule. It has a true community feel.

thanks to our brazilian vet for the unintentional 'bump'
i will, however, take the opportunity to say SkiRossendale did re-open and is doing fine - its strengths are the standard of instruction, the clubs, the friendly atmosphere and the recently introduced rehab/coaching clinics. Oh and did i mention it's outdoors
