Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski Rossendale will definitely reopen

Great news - the Ski Rossendale Ltd social enterprise has won the tender to reopen the slope. A huge amount of time was spent in putting the business plan together. This, according to those involved, is "thanks in no small part to the comments and information in the Snowheads forums, which helped mould parts of the bid". More information will be released in the coming weeks.

Ski Rossendale has been saved!

Did you learn to ski or board there? Do you have many happy memories? Were you saddened by the closure in March?

This is an appeal for help to get the slope in tip top condition for its re-opening and to keep it going for you, your children and your grandchildren!!

The slope is now a community facility so the team need the help of the community to create a slope to be proud of.

There are all kinds of jobs to be done, from cleaning, to painting and decorating, gardening, improving the slope..... some volunteers are already helping, but this is a mammoth task and the more the merrier. It is a great community spirit.

If you can spare even a couple of hours over the next few weeks, please pop up to the slope on Haslingden Old Road and get stuck in.

For more details please look at www.skirossendale.co.uk to see when you can help, someone will be there most days.

Thank you Very Happy

A quick update and its pretty good news. The centre will re-open to the public on tuesday september 6th and the popular kids club will start up on saturday 3rd september. There is an update on the website frontpage www.skirossendale.co.uk

The volunteer response was/is so good (including local yoof hoodies!!) that a huge amount of work is getting done. It looks like both lifts will be running. There is water on all areas of the slope including the bumps. There has been quite a lot of refurbishment already. Its not the finished article, thats going to take some time, but it really is an exciting project. The main slope matting replacement will begin in the near future. Already had loads of enquiries from people who want to ski/board outdoors!!

Anyone who wants to help, donating their time, skills, materials or even cash!, call at the slope any evening or weekend.

I hear there is also an exciting project involving specialised therapists and coaches, very sport specific to skiing and boarding, more info when i get it.

Big society? dunno - but it feels good Very Happy

sunnbuel,

Well done you and all involved, I am not into dry slope skiing myself but my 2 boys used to use the jump slope, probably about once every couple of months for a chill out day, will this be re-opened. Will be along in a couple of weeks just out of curiosity.

BTW the old Ellis Brigham outlet on site, is their any plans for this. Good luck with your venture.

Kel, nice of you - give the office a call on (01706) 226457. Just for info the slope is doing a 'soft' opening this weekend. A drop in Kids + parents club on saturday morning (parents a fiver, kids half that) and then open to anyone in the afternoon and all day sunday. They are doing 50% off all slope prices this weekend. A huge amount of work has been done on the infrastructure, you wouldn't believe how the last owners left it Shocked but its also still a work in progress. The good news is that the misting system has been repaired (after 5 years!!) and one lift is fully operational with the maximum number of pomas fitted.
Yep the fun park restoration has begun and it will be modified - see the Kommittee freestylers page on the website.
THe Ellis Brigham building now belongs to the Social Enterprise and will be developed Toofy Grin . One final thing Kel, you will be into dry slope skiing - feel the force Laughing Laughing

thanks to our brazilian vet for the unintentional 'bump'
i will, however, take the opportunity to say SkiRossendale did re-open and is doing fine - its strengths are the standard of instruction, the clubs, the friendly atmosphere and the recently introduced rehab/coaching clinics. Oh and did i mention it's outdoors Toofy Grin
