gsb, they've been around in one form or another for a few years. I've been through 5 ACL recons and still use normal bindings. It's not the bindings that do the damage, it's the way you fall. I make sure my bindings are regularly tested and well-maintained.
I think one of their problems is their price - way too expensive for what the claim to do.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

A few equipment guys on epic have raised doubts about build quality and there seems to be a bit of an ongoing barney between the inventor and the company currently commercialising them. I've done the knee surgery thing too plus a broken leg and have no real inclination to use them.

I'd like to bump this thread: has anyone been using "kneebinding" in the last couple of years?
I ruptured my ACL earlier this year, and my surgeon now thinks I will recover ok without surgery: but I think this means either a knee brace and/or special bindings.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Mrs SS managed to fracture her tibia spine (where the ACL attaches to the tibia) in Feb, has had surgery to reattach it, and has been investigating knee braces. We have looked for information about the knee binding, but have decided to go down the brace route.
I think Donjoy was one of the specialist brace suppliers..

It looks to me that the Kneebinding is a preventative product rather than something to replace a knee brace. IMO the 2 products are completely different things and do completely different things. The Kneebinding does not offer any Knee support at all.
The idea of a release system on the heel part is good. But I'm interested in whether they have to be set left and right. The danger of pre-release... and if they were that good compared to regular bindings why on Earth are racers not using them to guard against ACL injuries?... Even in training rather than racing?
