Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

If that includes mechanised usage permit for cat skiing for example, then it's a steal.

Not really the Mountain peaks are more or less right on the Austria/Italy border, and whilst the Italian side looks possibly skiable the Austrian side is another matter entirely, there's a small plateau below Roskopf with a few mountain barns, probably high pasture with a little chapel up there as well, butto get up to that plateau I think you'd need to be a mountain goat

boredsurfin, no not at all, but Google Earth is my friend Embarassed

I grabbed the best pics that people had taken in the area after making sure they really were of the correct peaks

Looking at the paths from the overhead views I'd say the biggest vehicle you'd get up there would be one of those ride on mower type tractor things you often see in the alps, the thing where you can swap the rear unit for a load carrier or a rotovator/mower etc.

Personally I think the little plateau up there looks lovely and the views are great, but the path up there would in no way take something as big as a snowcat, Grosse Kingat is even more treacherous, not even a footpath goes up close to it.

You can definitely ski the face in the first picture. Several lines as well... Would get a bit tiresome though skiing the same lines...

Timmaah, Oh I agree you could ski that bit, just I think you'd find in the winter that the only way you'd get up there would be by helicopter, the footpath up to that plateau from the valley below is visible in google earth but I think it might well be too dangerous to attempt in winter

Aaaaaaah ok, I gotcha now. Solution is to obviously pack supplies to last a winter and stay up in the plateau for 5 months on your own.... Simple? Right?

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Timmaah, Hmm I like your thinking but 5 months solid of doing the same slope might get a bit boring Sad Especially as I suspect you will be using candle light and heating/cooking with a log fire and don't forget melting the snow for the water.

If there was a slightly safer way down with utilities available at the plateau and a choice of a few more ski runs I'd seriously consider the location.
