Tim, postings and threads on snowHeads - or any other independent internet forum - are not designed to be 'adverts'. They are - whether you are prepared to face up to it or not - an expression of facts, truth, objectivity, subjectivity, rubbish, lies, whatever.
We are not here to 'advertise' things. We are here to discuss things. If postings sometimes reflect negatively on something or other, that's part of free speech. Controversial or unfair comment can be - and is - shouted down.
I don't know what you mean by 'Scrumpy's treatment'. Sounds like the doctoring of some rough cider! Seriously, though, did this anonymous Ski Club member receive some unfair 'treatment' of some sort? - in which case it should be remedied. [I've a feeling I may owe him/her an apology]

David Goldsmith, I think that Tim is referring to the fact that I unnecessarily referred to Scrumpy in my first post on this thread - something that I immediately retracted.
As for who is acting as an advert for whom, my analysis is that most of us make a simple contribution to this community and speak freely on any subject. As is human nature, our views will differ and we will sometimes say rash things, go further than we intended or simply fail to explain fully what we mean. However, Tim, I do feel that you appear (to me at least) to be an informal representative of SCGB because, unless I am mistaken, the overwhelming number of your posts are on matters related to SCGB. This suggests that you visit here with one predominant agenda. I just thought that you were not helping that agenda.

Sorry, I haven't been keeping track of this thread much - been too busy trying to encourage young people to get more involved in the sport.

David Goldsmith, there's another British website where young people who are interested in snowsports come on and ask questions about resorts, about gear, etc. In the last 10 months, there's been close to 40,000 posts. They want to be more involved in the sport. Shouldn't there be a club for them, where they can chat and ask questions, and learn from people who are passionate about the snow, not people who are passionate about profit and being part of some snobbish, outdated club?
