Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I think you may do better in Saalbach-Hinterglemm to be honest. Big party town and they "sell" the place on that as much as one the skiing. Plus the skiing is better linked in terms of not having to bus/train to any of the slopes. Most of the accommodation is pretty close to one lift or another. The town isn't too pretty and is strung out along the road from Vordererglemm right up to Hinterglemm, but once you are in Saalbach there are plenty of lifts both sides of the road.

I'm not a big fan of Saalbach village myself (I love St Anton though), but I think it will tick most of your boxes to be honest without breaking the bank. The skiing is great - I just do not like the atmosphere or something in the Saalbach bit. Hinterglemm is OK though, Leogang is probably a bit too quiet for what you want and Vordererglemm requires you getting on the buses if you want to make the best use of the lift system for all abilities. shenryo, not sure what you mean? I have not recommended Mayrhofen as to be honest I'm not that up to date on it as others who go more regularly. But I do know you need to ride buses or trains to get to all the areas on the pass.

It really is a party first, ski second town as far as most of my friends view it (Austrians and Germans) Toofy Grin

thanks for all the heads up folks, I appreciate the info... you have certainly moved us away from Zermatt for this week though... we've settled on Mayrhofen, Spa Hotel Strass... it is a stag week after all and I still think it will offer some great skiing, especially with the Hintertux glacier nearby and on the pass Smile

shenryo, Good choice though in early March you almost certainly should not have to resort to the glacier. Conditions should be fine everywhere. As glaciers go Hintertux is good but you wouldn't want to go up there in bad weather. Nice hotel too, right next to the gondola station.
