Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Do they have formal dates?
I only ask because I know Verbier have a when-we-can-we-will policy.
If there is enough snow in October they will open, even if just a few runs on a skeleton early open staffing level.
On the other hand if there was no snow at all...well you can guess the rest.

Les Arcs - lack of budget sign-off, mass councillor resignations and current political meltdown notwithstanding - has announced the 2011 Film Festival dates as being 10 - 17th Dec 2011.
http://www.lesarcs-filmfest.com/2011/
The PR spin, and glad-handing meetings for 'money' to meet 'talent' are based in 1950, and at a minimum the 2000 bowl is opened for this period (snowcrazy is a guiding host). It may of course be earlier, but as soon as we get more info, I'm happy to post.

Linds, I normally start the thread when the Serre Che opening dates come out, unless someone has beaten me to it of course. Dates haven't been officially released yet as far as I know.

Don't know if this is the right place to post this so feel free to move if you make another thread.
La Plagne is opening on 10th December with limited pistes and cheaper liftpasses (exact pistes dependant on snow but all high altitude villages open) and then fully on 17th December. The Vanoise express link to Les Arcs opens on the 17th. Closing date is the 29th April.
Liftpass prices are mostly going up by around 2% but the family pass will stay the same. They are also scrapping the deposit system for the physical liftpass cards. New prices and details are on our website for download: http://www.ice-fire.co.uk/#/lessonsrental-passes/4538866188.

Dolomites Season opens 26.11.2011 and ends 15.04.2012. However individual areas within the Dolomites will probably have slightly different dates.

In Fieberbrunn (Tyrol) the official start is on 8th December, I think; at least, that is when the new Reckmoos Nord lift is scheduled to go into action. However, if the snow comes earlier, the season may start earlier too.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

The Jungfrau region may open some lifts for the weekends as early as November (subject to there being enough snow), General opening is usually a week or so before Christmas so I imagine this year that will be the 17th of December, closing is usually Early April I'd guess April 8th this year for Mannlichen, the railways carry on taking skiers up if the conditions are ok for a couple of weeks longer as does the Schilthorn, First may shut a week or so earlier.
