Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Sled dogs killed after Whistler Winter Olympics exhumed

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Fifty-two sled dogs who were killed after the 2010 Winter Olympics have been exhumed from a mass grave outside a Whistler ski resort. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals expects to find the bodies of up to 100 dogs at the site. The bodies are being dug up to search for evidence that could back up criminal charges.

Can somebody explain to me the mentality of a person who kills 70 dogs just coz his supervisor told him to?

There's millions of animals killed in abattoirs every month - there's plenty of people who kill more animals than that every day. In some parts of the world there's 70 dogs get killed in a day for food.

Is it because they are fluffy little angels, man's best friend and all that?

In the UK, if it is done humanely (without causing undue suffering), you can kill an animal. There was a recent case with greyhounds being killed because they were no longer fit enough to race. Unfortunately for the authorities, they discovered that the method used (putting a bullet through the skull) was as humane as any other, and are now pursuing the guy who was doing it on some other technicality.

I do, however, object to the manner in which he did some of this - stabbing a dog to death is a very different thing to humanely killing it.

ALQ, there was a huge thread about this when it happened. remember these are working animals not pets and like Monium says, the big issue was the botched cull not the actual killings

I think the big issue was breeding dogs just to make a quick buck out of them at the Olympics then shooting them.

but as Monium says, animals are bred for commercial purposes all over the world, then killed. In this case, they served their purpose before they were killed, not after as with animals bred for food. There's no other difference if viewed objectively. A lot of people think of animals like children - they aren't.

But of course i agree that they have to be kept and killed humanely, and i don't think that happened here.
