The coat of arms designed for Kate Middleton has white chevronels to symbolise mountains and reflect her love of skiing and the Lake District. The heraldic design, which cost £4,400, was commissioned by Miss Middleton’s father, and will appear on the souvenir wedding programme. It also incorporates three acorn sprigs for each of the Middletons’ children, an oak tree to symbolise England, strength and west Berkshire, where the family lives, and an inverted gold ‘v’ to represent Miss Middleton’s mother, whose maiden name was Goldsmith.
