Poster: A snowHead

Hi all,
Need a bit of advice from you experts.
Did my 3rd week this year (mid March) and still learning but improving...
Want to invest in a new jacket (the one I have is quite good, removable 'fleece', confy, etc). Just want to get something a bit 'better'
I am looking to spend around up to £150, but all suggestions are welcome.
Probably for season 2013 I will be investing in a pair of boots as I've got the ski bug now....
Suggestion/comments are much appreciated.
Cheers, rb51

yep again, boots. Might cost more, but far more important.
Your existing jacket sounds fine!
And if you have more money to spend; lessons!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

dont be fooled by anyone telling you there's a beginners jacket or an expert jacket available or whatever. An expert who only skis once a year should be in a beginners jacket no?
when you say a bit better, do you want something warmer? more breathable, more waterproof? If you like your current one then stick with it, that said tis a good time of year to buy something in the sales, but again dont be fooled into thinking that as your sking progres so should your wardrobe

All the gear no idea springs to mind.
Use the cash to buy boots fitted by someone who knows what they're doing. Plenty of good refs on here.
Use any remainding cash on lessons.
Then listen to them cry " he's wearing a Kagoule, but look at him Ski "

Check with solutions for feet first - he's great at race boots and the top end of the range but may be a bit short in the 3 week beginner choice. Boots have different flex ratings, beginner hire boots are typically very flexible, you will probably need something quite flexible at this stage while you start to master ankle flex, possibly out of his range.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

If your looking for ski jackets just now check out eBay they're super cheap and you can get high end brands with good specs for a bargin!
Also, having proper fitted boots helps you on waaaay more than having a flash jacket!

Apologies for the late reply.
I would like to thank everyone for replying to this thread.
I am convinced that I should invest in a pair of boots rather than a jacket.
I am now off to do some research a find a good/price competitive boot fitter around Greater London Home COunties.
