Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Whistler Visa's For BASI Instructors

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi There

Im looking into doing a season over in Whistler for the 2011/12 season and wanted some advice on the VISA required to work a season over there. I am a BASI level 2 Ski Instructor but I believe Whistler will not sponsor instructors this coming season so the VISAs have to be done off your own back, which is fine but I could do with some advice from someone who has been there and done it! Also any pointers on possible instructor jobs would be good too!

Thanks!

richjobling, I think the only option to get a visa without a sponsor is via BUNAC.

You need to be under 30 though. If you don't qualify I'd suggest applying to a smaller resort - perhaps on the East coast - who would be more likely to sponsor you.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

beanie1, thanks for the advice. Are you speaking from experience yourself? If so do you know any good ski schools on the east coast?

richjobling, Stay in Europe rather than go to Eastern Canada - there's a reason you hear so many Quebecois accents out west.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

richjobling, not personal. but I have a number of friends who've been able to get jobs and visas as first season L2 insutructors on the East coast of N. America. Or you could try smaller resorts anywhere else - generally the same rule applies I believe, that it's easier to get sponsored (and a job) at smaller resorts.
