seems a bit harsh
http://whitelines.mpora.com/news/courcheval-bans-snowboarding.html
In a move that is sure to ignite the fury of snowboarders across the world, the French resort of Courchevel has announced it is considering banning snowboarding on its slopes from the start of the 2011/12 season.
The plan, which would turn the clock back 30 years to a time when riders were routinely barred from using the lifts on skier-owned mountains, is aimed at attracting a more ‘exclusive’ clientele to the already pricey resort.

Although I would feel sorry for M. A Jocaire who would be financially penalised, I would strongly support this every day of the year.....why does it have to be today

So, Posh is carrying skis and poles, wearing a track suit that exposes her midrift and marching along in what looks like a pair of boarder's boots or moonboots. How do you expect me to take this story seriously!!!!!!

rayscoops, I'm not sure the policy is bigoted although before I'd ever visted one of the hold out resorts that's the view I held - get with the modern era, share the love etc etc. Having been to Alta (which does have great terrain) I can see how fundmentally the character of the mountain would be changed by snowboarders. There are lots of long flat traverses to get to good stuff which with the best will in the world would be snarled by boarders and economically the resort is saying we think we maximise revenue by not jeopardising our core consituency of (very good) skiers.
Deer Valley, who cares? I'm not sure I know a boarder worthy of the name that desperate to be pampered on velvety groomers in a local area which receives as much snow as SLC. You could apply the same logic to C'vel if the story were actually true.
