Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I told my family that an emergency dry ski slope has been put up in Megeve where we are going next week and all our skiing would be on that - the worrying thing is that, having seen the snow reports, they believed me!

Actually was in Megeve a few weeks back and there was something in the distance which did look like just that. I was only there for a day so the people who know the area better might be able to tell you how to get to it wink

BMF_Skier, we go this day next week. You are very cruel as you had me going for a millisecond Toofy Grin
Have you any more skiing planned yourself? NehNeh

Are you taking snowshoes for your hill walking? You might be interested in the webcam images below:-

I appreciate that France may not have had its usual amount of snow this season but think the hysterical portrayal of snowless slopes in all resorts is getting a bit out of hand. Mad

For example, Mountainaddict and his Mrs were in the 3 Valleys (La Tania) 3 weeks ago and came back having had a fantastic time. Yes, they had all weathers and all types of snow conditions - ranging from slush (lower down) to consistently great snow (all week) above 1800m and powder on 2 or 3 days. They laughed when they overheard Americans on a chairlift describing conditions as "skiing without snow." Very Happy

The point is that they skiied all day every day and had a fantastic time. However, by contrast we know of others who were in Val Thorens that very same week who "survived" their holiday only because Val Thorens' leisure centre saved the day (or 3...)

As the old adage goes, "There are skiers and there are those who take skiing holidays." wink

Bergmeister, the same website is reporting 9oC at 2500m it isn't exactly set for epic skiing (but I'm sure he'll have a great holiday).

However, yes people have gone OTT, but I think BMF Skiier was just being flippant. I imagine he's thanking his lucky stars he's going to Val Thorens as well though as in two weeks time it looks like a lot of resorts that thought they were still going to be open are (absent a serious change in the weather) going to be struggling Sad ......

Bergmeister, Three weeks ago the conditions were much better. VT, with is height, should survive a few weeks more. I'm really glad i'm not going to a western alp resort with a base above 1800m though. I certainly won't be swapping the week for one based in La Tania.
We'll be making the best of whatever's available! If that means beers and the Oxaly's pool, then so be it. Sun cream packed first.
