Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Lyon Airport

Poster: A snowHead
I'm still smiling thinking about my journey through Lyon airport last friday evening.

First, I took my checked-in skis to the 'oversize luggage' drop-off to find that their x-ray machine was broken. They never had this machine on my previous visit when they 'manually' checked the contents of all ski-bags - much to the annoyance of a fellow traveller who had wrapped his ski-bag in industrial strength pallet wrap and had to cut it all off with a knife to allow visual inspection.
I suggested to the broken x-ray machine operator that maybe he could check my ski-bag manually just like in the 'good old days' but evidently this was no longer possible. They had their super machine now, and if it couldn't be got working by the time my flight left, my skis were staying in France.
Fortunately, I had arrived at the airport in good time, so it just meant standing around at the desk waiting for an hour for the machine to be eventually fixed! Isn't technology a wonderful thing!

Secondly, the number of boarding pass & passport checks at Lyon (Terminal 3) must be the highest anywhere.
1) Check-in desk
2) Oversize luggage check-in
3) Security
4) Passport control
5) Entry to departure gate lounge from passport control
6) Exit from departure gate lounge to apron
7) Entry on to aircraft
All of the above are over a straight-line distance of about a 100m!
Isn't security a wonderful thing

How long will it be before air travel just isn't worth the hassle?
When that day arrives the terrorists will have won (aided and abetted by 'our' side?)
