My son is looking to go with the school next year to Oberlungau in Austria they are looking to go at Easter time which will be the end of March beginning of April. Has anyone been this time of year and what are the snow conditions at that time of year. we have never tried skiing in Europe only USA and Canada so unsure as to what the conditions would be like.
Thanks in advance

The only resort in the region that I have experiance of is Obertauern.
I've skiied there about 5-6 times over the years, early season, mid season, late season. A good snow sure location.
Genrally quiet snow reliable even late in the season. I've been last week March a couple of times with my kids, they thoroughly enjoyed it and wanted to go back this year.
A a rule all runs are open in late march 1st wk April. Temperatures can sometimes be a little warm (it will be spring afterall) resulting in slightly heavy snow, but really makes not a lot of difference.
Obertauern pistes are mainly blue / Red, nothing particularly challenging, easy to navigate, small vertical of about 600m top to bottom.
As always Altitude is a good indicator of conditions that you should expect, higher the better, ideally with mix of slope directions, you don't want everything facing south.

smmjh11, Lungau is a real "schneeloch" and the locals here sometimes call it the Siberian Austria!!we have raced in Katschberg, and Obertauern in April, and both times the pistes were brilliant. I skied the last day of the season in Obertauern last year, I think it was last April week and the pistes were still great til midday, after that it gets heavy. If he´s off end March it should be fine.
