Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Skis need some love and attention

 Poster: A snowHead

Hello,

After an icy week in La Plagne and quadruple wisdom tooth removal (completely unrelated), I feel that I should set about getting my poor skis serviced, with your undoubtedly fabulous assistance.

They've got some shallow half/full-length scratches, and a nice 1-2cm gouge down to the core (fortunately did not bust the edges). I have half a mind to attempt a Ptex fix on the gouges myself, but still need them serviced.

My question is, does anyone have an overwhelming opinion on Snow & Rock, Ellis Brigham, Edge & Wax and their ability to service my needs? Alternatively, are there any undiscovered beauties around the Maidenhead area?

Many lurking thanks,

JP snowHead

JP89, welcome to snowHeads. snowHead

Ski Bartlett in Hillingdon have been recommended by quite a lot of people on the forum and I'm about to take my own skis there for servicing. It shouldn't take you very long to get there.

Contact John Coster and do a halfday tech course with him - 1 to 1 tuition, less than the price of a service, and then you can do most things yourself - he's a brilliant bloke....

JP89, Welcome to snowHeads. I'm sure many others will say the same but a big +1 to Hurtle's advice re spyderjon. Fantastic course and well worth the trip. Plus it'll save you a fortune in the future.

Schuss in Boots, 'twasn't my advice, I've had my skis serviced by Jon once (very well, obviously) but haven't done the course. I'm too kack-handed to do my own skis, plus I haven't really got anywhere suitable to set them up - no garage, or shed, or anything.

Cheers guys! That looks like a great course, and definitely something I'll consider. Hopefully going to get out on the slopes again late this season (Very Happy), so might leave it 'til after then, and let someone closer to home look at them in the mean time.
Thanks for all the advice Smile
