Poster: A snowHead

We have skied this same week (2nd of our school Sport holiday) for the last 5 years. First 2 in PSV, the last 3 in Morillon. Although the UK half term is over, there was still 2/3 of France on holiday and the queues were ever present. So who has just got back and had a queue free time (in the alps).

Zero queuing in the Monterosa ski area (Alagna-Gressoney-Champoluc) plus 80cms of deep fresh powder over the week

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Back from Courchevel 1850 this weekend, have to say I was surprised how small the queues were, other than in Meribel where I think you need to be some kind of sadist to chose to base yourself.
Having stayed in the "premier" resort of Courchevel 1850 I can quite happily say we'll never go back, it's no where near as great as people would have you believe, the 3V's is great, but we'd head for Val Thorens next time, none of the Courchevel resorts had anything that special to them.

The only queue of any significance was at 4:15pm for th eT-bar at Alpe Rauz near Stuben. Mind you it was all part of th escramble to make the last chairlift up to St. Anton. No queues and great skiing

No frustrating queues in the Kitzbühel Alps (at least in the areas we skied: Kitzbühel/Kirchberg/Jochberg, Steinplatte, Fieberbunn, Leogang/Saalbach/Hinterglemm, St. Johann, Zell am See, SkiWelt/Söll/Scheffau/Ellmau/Westendorf) in the last couple of weeks, a few minutes at the most.

No queues here, unless you catch ski-school hitting the lift at 930 and 1430.

nessy, if you're looking for lack of queues, going to France in their peak holiday season probably isn't the best idea, actually. There are plenty of other Alps available.... I have an apartment in a French resort and will be going back down there on Thursday, ready to hit the slopes Saturday, when they've all gone.

pam w, Next year will be the same week for us and it looks like we would have to share with zones B and C so have to try and persuage my friends to go outside of France. We chose Morillon because they could get a flight from Bristol to Geneva and then a short transfer.
BTW we only had a few horrendous queues but for the main part there were ever present 5-10 minute jobs which are a bit of a pain trying to keep a group together. I am not very tolerant of queues since my home mountain (Flumserberg) doesn't really suffer from them even on busy sunny Sundays.
rungsp, prefer to leave Switzerland and enjoy my strong CHFs. Otherwise I would be in favour of trying the Thyon end.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

nessy, good luck with persuading your friends. I agree that 5 - 10 minute lift queues are a major aggravation when you're used to having none at all. That's why I'll be driving back to France at the end of this week!

Had last week in 3V, and also went to La Plagne (Champagny-Bellecote then back from Peisey via Vanoise Express), Sainte Foy and Valmorel. Only queue anything more than about a minute or two in length was at 8:30am on Sunday getting up from Brides-les-Bains to Meribel and at 5pm getting back down again. Apart from that nothing anywhere remotely close to 10 mins. Pretty much skied straight onto most lifts - even the Tougnettes 2 chair was flowing fairly freely, and maybe 3 mins for the Mt Vallon bubble. May have saved a bit of a queue at the Bellecote bubble by being entitled to use the ski-school line but that was about it.

We specifically went to Italy last week because we knew it was French holidays. No queues at all in Passo Tonale
One queue on our day out to Madonna di Campiglio when we unfortunately got mixed in with 3 ski school groups at the bottom of a nursery button lift. Otherwise no queues there either!
