Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Driving to Les Deux Alpes - advice please

Hi -new to Snow Heads.
We are driving to Les Deux Alpes (Eurotunnel) in April and plan to stay overnight in France about half way. Any suggestions about the best route and a good stop over place. Family of four, two teenagers. Not looking for luxury but not too basic either - would like a nice evening meal!
Any suggestions? Thanks

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

bling bling, Welcome to Snowheads. I'll be taking the same route on 9th April for the 5th year running. Route wise I'll be going in the direction of Rheims, Troyes, Dijon, then branching onto the motorway which goes past Bourg en Bresse, then skirting Lyon, onto Grenoble and Les Deux Alpes. I believe a new piece of motorway has opened by Lyons which may change that slightly but I think I'll still be going that route.

I drive straight through from Calais to L2A now after crossing the night before. That takes around 10 hours inc stops. I guess it depends what time you'll be hitting France and how long you want to drive. Anywhere from Troyes southwards really. Half way in France is probably somewhere just south of Dijon I guess.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks everyone. We are now looking at an overnight stop perhaps at the Novotel in Beaune. We were thinking of getting the mid-day tunnel but perhaps would be better going for a 10 am crossing?
