Poster: A snowHead

Does anyone else think the seasons have moved about a month?
It seems to me, that ski seasons seem to be getting later and later...often good snow going into May.
I think a lot of resorts are missing out by closing too early. Anyone else think the same?

spud, seems to me that the higher resorts close because they run out of customers rather than running out of snow.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Do you think that's more of a mindset though, as traditionally in the past, many have relied on Travel agents, and go by the dates in the brochures.
Travel companies, need to start reacessing their dates imho.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

spud, I think many people believe the ski season to be shorter than it actually is. My first trip of the winter started on 28 September, and my last trip of the winter finishes on 29 May. I don't think it has much to do with the seasons changing or not.

Have they? I'm not sure the French/Austrians/Germans/Dutch/Skandies use TO's/travel agents for their ski hols.

clarky999, that's right. I think for most people by the time you come to April and May you start thinking about warm weather activities.

I'd agree that they don't do so nearly as much as the Brits, I think. Loads of French people in towns like Albertville and Annecy go skiing at weekends throughout the winter and they are perfectly well aware of what the snow conditions are. But by early April they're ready for a change - Decathlon in Albertville will be full of mountain bikes and camping stuff.

Sorry i was generalising, and talking about mainly a British mentality. And tbh, i haven't used a TO for years.
But a lot still do, and the advertising in papers and magazines stops so early, that it is soon forgot.
