When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Opponents of Munich's bid to host the winter Olympics have started collecting signatures for a petition to force a referendum on the planned venue for Alpine skiing. They want to force the Garmisch-Partenkirchen municipal authority to re-examine the legality of contracts already signed, saying that the venue is too small for such an event. Dozens of farmers and land owners in the area have already been refusing to give up their land for alpine skiing events.
...The petition comes shortly before an evaluation commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is due in Munich to inspect venues planned for the Games. Some 1,700 signatures are needed to force a referendum on the issue.
