Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi All. I'm new here.
I'm organizing my 3rd "boys weekend" to the Alps this year. Having previously done Morzine, this year we are going to Chaomonix. Hotels are a little new to us, being used to catered chalets, but I got too many "We need to go out more" comments.
Clearly Chamonix is dependent on bus networks. My view is that Ski Hire is best done close to the hotel so that we can travel easily to any lift in the morning. Also we are planning to ski til about 3 before catching our flight back to London, so a quick ski drop off would work well. One day we are doing a guided Vallee Blanche trip which is somewhat new and exciting for us.
The Hotel is recommending Ski Loc. They're right across form the hotel so seem convenient. I can find no reference to them any on forums etc regarding quality or service. Does anyone have experience with them please? I've been let down in the past by guys who just want to give you whatever they have in stock as opposed to taking needs into consideration.
Most of us are reasonable skiers. Predominantly on-piste, but venturing off little by little
Cheers
Eric

The main bus stop is right outside your hotel, so all good there. The Midi is a 3 min walk from the hotel too, all good there. The guys at Ski Loc are as good as any other in town, so provided they have the kit you need then cool. The hotel has great facilities nice pool and "Well Being" stuff, so even a bunch of lads should be able to pamper them selves without feeling a bit gay. To pimp our store a bit, we're bootfiters, a shop called SOLE, we also are Chamonix' test center for White dot skis, so you should swing by and give ' em a try for free, yeah boy!!!

Wow. Quick Response!
SMALLZOOKEEPER - Your reputation precedes you. I'll mention to my mates. I have a pair of Atomic M Tech 110 which I had fitted professionally at the start of 2010. I'm getting minor pain on front left toe and inner left ankle bone (although they are the most comfortable boots I've ever had). Can you adjust an existing pair, or do you only sell new boots?
Arno - actually that was quite useful

SMALLZOOKEEPER, what do you charge for testing the w.d's? May have to test a pair of Redeemers next time I'm in Cham, there's a near-on two metre gap in my quiver just where a fat pow ski should go.
