Just booked. Late package deal (Le Grand Chalet Apartments, 2 mins from the gondola - allegedly....). We're going 2 weeks on Saturday.
We stayed in BLB for a couple of nights years ago but can't remember too much about it....went for a pizza one night I think...
Any recommendations - or places to avoid? And is there a supermarket for our supplies?

mountainaddict, there are several bars, cafés and restauraunts, but I have no specific recommendations. There is a small supermarket (spar I think) on the corner of the main street and the road up to the gondola

Cheers Patch! After a response from Lizzard to my posting in The Piste regarding First Choice charter flights, I was half expecting a response from him/her to say "Wouldn't it be easier if you just rang the BLB Tourist Office?"

We vist 3V at least twice each winter as sons instruct with New Gen in Meribel. Often stay in Grand Chalet which is being done up (not before time) at the moment. Only supermarket is Spar and quite pricy. If poss get down to the supermarkets in Moutiers - we usually drive so have car. More than 2 mins walk to lifts but free shuttle bus runs from the bridge at the square to take you up but not down! Look on bus stop for times. Best food now is Casino restaurant 29 euros for fab full meal, Val Vert used to be good but gone down a bit, good basic menu at Hotel du Centre and other pizza/pasta places.

mountainaddict, As mogulski said, if you have transport, a better supermarket is the SuperU, on the main road between Moutiers and Brides (our local) - reasonable prices, good range

mountainaddict, I have spent at least two weeks in Brides Les Bain every season for the past 6 years and I have tried most of the eating establishments a number of times. Unfortunately, I don't know the proper names of all the places because our group have our own code names for them!
However this is my review of those I've tried.
Starting along the Moutier end of the 'main road'
On the right and up the slope you have the Les Cybelles apartment block with a restaurant (open to all) under one of the blocks,. This has changed 'operators' a number of times over the years and has varied from below average to above average. Recently they have included pizza's on the menu which have been pretty good. Rated 3 stars.
25m down the main road, on the left you have 'One man and his dog' (possibly properly known as Hotel Gourmet). The guy who runs this had a lovely dog called Caramel but we found out in January that it had died before Christmas. The guy complained that the British only ever asked how his dog was and never how he was! Serves Pizzas, giant salads, regional dishes etc etc. Pretty good. Rated 3 stars.
A further 50m down the road on the right you will find a restaurant that only seems to open for two hours every evening. Never eaten there because it has closed by the time we get out at at about 9p.m. but it looks pretty good!
A further 20m down the main road on the right is 'Sheffields' (so named because it used to be run by a guy from Sheffield. This is also the local Tabac shop and is really just a cafe type affair selling chips with everything. Rated 2 stars.
A further 30m down the road on the right at the road junction leading up to the Olympic lift, you have the Central bar (next to the Spar mini-market). This is the bar that the locals use, and it has a restaurant attached which can sometimes get pretty busy. Serves all the usual except, I believe, for pizzas. Also some French speciality dishes. rated 3 star.
Down the road on the left (and behind the casino - access also through the casino bar) you have the best restaurant in town. Proper French food in a lovely environment. A bit pricey but they do have a skiers menu. Rated 4+ stars. Say Hi from me to Michel the Maitre D!
30m down the road from the Central Bar and on the right you have 'Hoageys', the only bar in town that plays any music and gets any real atmosphere. Also has Sky TV for football, Rugby etc. The attached restaurant is often busy but the food has always been a slight disappointment to me. All the normal pizzas, steak frites etc. etc. Rated 2 stars plus.
Finally a further 50m on the right is another pizza restaurant which we haven tried for a couple of years but it was o.k. Rated 3 stars.
In January I noticed another pizza restaurant has opened. On the right and up the stairs but below appartment block behind the Spar on the road up to the Olympic lift near the outdoor mini ice-rink.
Apart from the casino restaurant, the food in Brides Les Bain restaurants is mainly pizzas, pasta, burgers and a few of the regional speciality dishes. Most of the restaurants stop serving by about 9.30 pm and I have met many hungry people who got in late on arrival day and could find nowhere to eat!

Bump.
Does anyone have any views on the current state of play on restaurants in Brides? The Casino seemed less good last year than in the past, and we were wondering about trying the Val Vert this time.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@Hurtle, there is a really good pizza place in the little 'shopping arcade' over the road from the Spar. It's tiny though, so book or get there early, or they do takeaways. A friend visited who is vegan and dairy free, and it was about the only place she could eat!
The place described above as "A further 20m down the main road on the right is 'Sheffields' (so named because it used to be run by a guy from Sheffield. This is also the local Tabac shop and is really just a cafe type affair selling chips with everything. Rated 2 stars." we've found to be pretty good. It's basic and cafe style but good for a steak frites or big bowls of pasta. Huge portions and good value.
We also found that the bar in the Mercure was surprisingly good value (€4 for a large G&T).

@Paul_ox, thanks. (Not entirely sure that a vegan pizza is what everyone has in mind! )

@Hurtle, I think you'd manage to find a meat option
But don't touch the dodgy rum-based concoctions that are on offer!
