Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Suggestions for a ski hol - 19th March 2011

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all

I am looking to go skiing in Europe for a week commencing 19th March.
There will be 3 of us, and we are looking for somewhere lively, with some good intermediate runs and plenty of snow.

Any suggestions would be greatfully received.

Thanks

Is your name Jules Verne?

Plenty of snow now would be Italian alps. Plenty on March 19th (2011) could be anywhere.

Can you wait a while longer and go for a last minute deal?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

niqua, welcome to snowHeads snowHead

I've edited the thread title so that you can go this year rather than last!

Nope, not Jules Verne

Yeah - I think that the best option would be a last minute deal - but these things are always easier to book when you know which country/region to aim for.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks Ray Zorro - I should never have left that vital piece of info off the post. rolling eyes

Austria or Italy.

with some good intermediate runs

Sorry, that doesn't narrow the search. 95% of ski resorts are good for intermediates.

plenty of snow

Might want to wait until 2012 for that one Toofy Grin But seriously, at the time of the season you should be OK anywhere.

I think what you need to tell us is how you want to travel, what sort of accommodation you want to stay and how much moolah you want to spend. Do you want to go TO? Where have you skied before, what did you like and dislike?

Aim for wherever has decent snow at the time! Early march is pretty much the best time to ski anywhere though.

That strikes me as a little pessimistic.

We are fine to fly from London Gatwick - we love catered chalets and have done two ski trips in Courchevel and La Plagne regions of France with that type of accomodation. Looking to spend up to £600 for catered chalets again - preferably ones that are fairly big so we can socialise with different groups.

The reason why I put the 'good for intermediates' was that I was looking into Verbier and saw that it was more of a ski-expert type of location. One which I would probably spend a little too much time on my bottom rather than swooshing gracefully down perfectly groomed pistes.

Seriously, really appreciate your experience guys. Thanks.

19th of March looks a great date for grabbing a package bargain. Why not see what's on offer then check google and the reviews here to see if it fits what you want

Hi,

If you liked La Plagne, please take a look at our chalet (link in my tag line).

The chalet sleeps up to 24 and is fully catered. That week is priced at £450 per person, leaving you the remainder for flights and transfers.

We are in Les Coches which is in the La Plagne, one lift away from the Vanoise expess lift letting you ski Les Arcs too. As you know, La Plagne is great for intermediates with plenty of blue runs.

Hope that helps - please get in touch if you like the look of it.

Best wishes,
Heather

Really? Pretty well catered to intermediates as well as far as I'm aware. Ticks all the other boxes, but might struggle to find something in your price range in Verbier.

If the snow is good Mayrhofen, St Anton and Ischgl are always resorts to take into consideration. Can't really get much livelier than Austria in the Alps.
