Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Help! Late Montreux plans?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi,

I found this site and it looks mega helpful! I am going with a work conference to Montreux in May, the problem being I know most skiing doesn't exist past May!

I will have from the 9th-15th of May to hopefully (fingers crossed someone knows somewhere) to have mini-adventure around the area and maybe do some skiiing?

I have only skied on dry slopes in the uk before and was hoping to get beginner lessons and hire equipment. I am happy to rent a car or train it to get me from montreux to anywhere close that may still be be open around val d'isere/tignes etc.

Does anyone know anywhere that I will still be able to ski around that time?

And any advice on whether to board or ski and what equipment would be useful....even just basic skiing terms.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Not sure of closing dates of glaciers around there! You could try (1) Les Diablerets, (2) Saas Fee, (3)Zermatt. The latter two are furhter away and depends on how much time you have got!
