Does he have pressure on both skis or only on the outside ski for this one? Is a strategic pole plant helpful here?

Equipment failure - the binding attaching his right hand to his left ski failed to release. Luckily his single left handed poling technique was effective and he shows off the small but perfectly formed Edam he skewered on his descent.

What I find really impressive about that nosedive is that it's done in perfect parallel. Only a true pro could do it in such style!

It's difficult to figure out if some of the stuff in the background is part of his right ski. There look to be three or four separate things in various states of disintegration, maybe including a gate. Looks like a US racer - Spyder suit.

It's Eric Schlopy in the Soelden GS in 2003. I'm very proud of myself for not punning with his surname!

GS/downhill Gate on the ground, right ski tip has vanished and right ski has delaminated explosively leaving the base just above the gate and the tip in the corner between the two skis, looks like maybe Dynastar skis

I think he needs to return his skis to the rental shop with a bit of a complaint; delamination on the first run of the hol is not acceptable. He might have hurt himself.
