Mooserman normally. Too many hot scandies in kk. Have only been in kk twice in 5/6 weeks to St Anton. Nothing beat the griabli when the ccj's played there though

I'll answer that question in t-minus 6 days.....I bought the new Apres Ski Hits 2011 (RTL) album off iTunes last week just to play catch up from 2010.....theses next few days are gonna be hoorin' slow!!
The launch party of said album in the Mooserwirt looked awesome.....anyone in here at it?

dazman, I'm sitting with said cd in my pocket. My brother in law bought it for his apres ski night he's organised at a Bavarian bar in Glasgow. I had to download and add to my already 'impressive' playlist

dazman, Is the new apres ski hits 2011 just the 2010 with a new wrapper?
|

Neither, although I may have a look at both this year as I haven't been in either since they were refurbished.
I found the Moose palled after the first couple of visits and 'er indoors never did like the KK for apres although she did once have and enjoy a lunch there.
I concur with boabski on the Griabli comment but again, I haven't used that as much as when the CCJs were in town.
Maybe I'm just getting old.......!

Taps for lunch and a few and then on to KK's.
Mooserwirt's fine for the odd day, but when you're there for the whole season...

Mooser or Taps. KK's is too much like Liquid - chavy. Mooser is too expensive to go to often if you're doing a season though, although the half price lunches (or free with guests) were very welcome and tasty.

gandie, Theres is few '2011 mixes' of old favourites, but tunes like 'Vogelwiese' and 'Ich Bin Solo' 'Schatzi Shenk Mir Ein Photo' and 'Noch Ne Runde' have potential to be piste classic.
Basically you don't need a cd player or an iPod to play this album....you need a fondue set.

dazman, cheesy uumpah tirol trash + some "O'Neils Pub in Ormskirk " style classics (think Living on a Prayer) And you will love it.

Has the KK changed at all now that Mario Matt owns it?

dazman, Moos is the (Germanic) cheese fest, together with some dancy stuff thrown in. KK is cheese free. Griabli, Picaddily and Underground on the Piste for live music

Mr Marmot, and several million people each day buy the Sun. What's your point? Fule Dooch in ValD is packed to the rafters every day, but it's an still a dreadful place to spend any amount of time if you regularly go to decent bars, selling a good selection of drinks and play an intelligent selection of music.
IMHO the best apres bar I've been to is the Furry Shovel in Verbier. Good mix of friendly people (skiers/boarder both old and young, locals, instructors, seasonaires), decent background music with the occasional singalong, and a range of drinks that aren't extortionately priced (relatively, obv). It's a very easy place to lose a couple of hours at the end of the day. After 15 minutes in MW, KK or FD most right-minded people are screaming to be let out.

My point Dr John is that at least 2000+ people in the Mooserwirt disagree with you every day. You are entitled to your opinion in what constitutes a great apres-ski location, but so are they.
I'm pretty sure the 2000+ people are not forced to go there each day. I think they must enjoy it!
But then again, according to you, they are not right-minded. The poor deluded fools!

For APRES the Mooserwirt is far and away the best - it's pretty much the definition of it. For quiet/mellow/chilled out/sophisticated/intelligent conversation drinking obviously it's not the best place, but it never pretended to be. If you don't like the Mooserwirt you don't like apres - which is different to just a few beers after skiing.

clarky999, what you're referring to is Austrian apres specifically. I don't like austrian techno-ompha music, regardless of what I was doing prior to listening to it, so I don't like bars that force it down my ears (as it were), but I do very much enjoy a decent drink-up at the end of a hard days skiing, and whether you like it or not it's still called apres. I don't change my personality or musical taste when I go skiing, so I don't feel the need to adhere to the cliche of the MW/KK apres scene. Cultural fascism isn't pleasant, so please don't presume to tell me what I do and don't like.
Quiet/mellow/chilled out/sophisticated/intelligent conversation drinking, when done immediately after skiing, is also apres. If the kids and the "one week of freedom a year so I'm going to act like I did when I was 20" brigade want to do that then great, it leaves more space in the decent bars for me and my mates to stretch out in.

red 27, good for you mate, it can be cracking fun. There is an healthy slice of "been there, done that" to my grumbling, in that I've been there and done that many a time. It's the attitude of "you must do it this way because this is the only way to do it" that gets right on my t!ts. I don't I have to be standing on a table shouting "drove a chevy to the levy but the levy was dry" in order to be partaking of apres ski. I view it much the same way as drinking games, in that I do not need to force-feed myself some rotton cheap sambuca in order to get drunk and/or enjoy myself. I'm perfectly capable of doing both, thanks. In fact, as was demonstrated in Val d'Isere a few weeks ago, I'll still be going strong when the drinking games crowd have crashed and burned.

Dr John, fair play to you - I tend to agree, and of course there is room in this world for everyone's tastes and opinion.
My ideal 'Apres' is normally a 2 hour nap
