Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Alpine Canada calls safety summit to help reduce injuries on World Cup circuit

Poster: A snowHead
Alarmed at the numerous crashes and severe injuries on the alpine World Cup circuit this year, Alpine Canada has called a summit to find ways to make the sport safer. Canada's governing body of alpine skiing will host a gathering this April in Calgary to examine the country's domestic ski programmes, but the international ski community will be also be invited to participate.
...Skiers injured on the circuit so far include: Manuel Osborne-Paradis (Canada), who broke his leg and tore an anterior cruciate ligament in a downhill at Chamonix on Saturday; Mario Scheiber (Austria), who broke his collarbone and nose in a training crash last week; and Hans Grugger (Austria) who was placed in an induced coma after undergoing an operation on serious head injuries he sustained in a crash during training on Kitzbuehel's Streif course.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Did Scheiber also break a cheek bone? I'm surprised they don't have some kind of facegaurds on the helmets, even ice burn can be very painful.

Other sports make modifications and rule changes to reduce injury and make the sport safer, so why not skiing?

I also wonder about Lindsey Vonn and her current condition after a concussion last week. Is there anyone to say she is not fit to compete? If it was horse racing the jockey would be stood down in similar circumstances regardless of the importance of upcoming events.
