Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Cairngorms mid-week. Good idea?

Given the predicted high winds, what are the chances of the cairngorm mountain being open/ enjoyable, mid-week? We have the oportunity of going up now, or mid-end march. Or both. We're obviously guaranteed a reasonable covering of snow if we go up just now. However, we have no clue as to whether the 70kmph winds predicted will close the mountain, or ruin our skiing. It's going to cost us around 50 pounds for accommodation and travel. So we could easily write it off to experience, if we go up and it's terrible. Or we could save our 50 quid and go for an extra day in march. Of course there's no guarantee of good weather then, either.

What would you advise we do?

Thanks

Looking at the forecast I'd take an extra day in March.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

What does that mean in terms of on-hill weather? We're pretty hardy. We'd also like a trip soon. Will it be shut and/or extremely unpleasant, or do you mean it will just be better in march?

noses, I think if it's not shut it will be particularly unpleasant.

It depends where you're coming from I guess. If it was Perth I'd maybe give it a shot on the basis you can just head home if it's a bit rubbish whereas if it was from the Borders I'd probably not make the trip.

I'm off through the week (live about an hour and a half away from Nevis) and unless things improve I'll be staying at home.
