Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

NYE 2011/12 Hotel/resort

Hi folks

Looking for some advice on a hotel and resort for next NYE... Due to the dates and how they fall we are not going to be able to go for an entire week.. So, Does anyone know of any good hotels/chalet companies that might be able to accommodate us for a bespoke 3 or 4 day trip at that time of year...?

Normally a French alps addict but am interested in heading out to maybe Austria/Italy/Switzerland this time so if anyone can suggest a good (big) area, that has a few decent bars etc, that too would be really great... Smile

st anton - just came back from there and it was brilliant. the "Hotel Anton" may take you for that small a time, it's a family run business - but not guarantee. there are lots of bars there, and the ski area is fairly large. it's up there with the likes of val and courchevel

If you are going to be staying over the NYE you will probably find hotels will cater for you as they quite often turn away TO's business but do charge a high rate for independent booking, haven't looked at the days yet but if you go for a short trip after the new years holiday you can normally get decent prices as the hotels have no other customers for the rest of the week.

Richiavo, Thx for this but unfortunately one of our party is a teacher... NYE is on a Saturday so I am guessing that Schools will start back on the following Tuesday???

pdx, Thx for the advice, i will look them up... In your opinion would St Anton be big enough to cater for a group of boarders at Inter level for 3/4 days?
