The huge queue I jumped on the new Reims bypass after New Year by using the Right hand toll will be worth it even if I am charged a higher rate

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Which barrier is that? The one where you pick the ticket up rather than the one you pay at presumably.

You'll need to Register first of course.

Its a forester with a very big roof box, its the barrier where you pay, put ticket in, comes up with charge, put card in. press button for receipt. there were no booths with people in at vitry on A40 around lunch time today all seemed on automatic.
Its a camera that works out what your "car" is I wonder how many people actually check what its cost???? I looked at the receipt, and realised it waswrong as I do the journey loads, normally about 35 Euro's, was charged 55 Euros

When we drove with roof box we were warned about this, it is all to do with height rather than the physical class type of vehicle.
My Delica is 2m high + roof box & rack puts it somewhere around 2.5m & I was ok through all the tolls one summer all round France (I don't use the roof boot when going skiing).
A friend in a camper van (Mountain rescue land rover conversion) @ 2.8'ish was done as HGV and it cost him loads to get to Chamoni (mountain climber).
Another Delica driver gets cought in the same way on the M6 toll & found that if he braked to a stop under the camera eye it would let him thro as a car !

But surely your telepeage badge is valid for a Class 1 vehicle, so that is what you will have been charged. Wonder what would happen if you used in a big van though.

Hells Bells, Telepeage tag lane are height restricted so that would limit some use of the badge in tall vans, but I guess some vans could be smaller and still fit under which could be an issue. However it's worth checking the bill we get I think as we are in resort at the moment and travelled with a telepeage and a top box. It is not clear if the OP has a telepeage, or whether their problem arose from a credit card barrier.

Looks like credit card payment from that.

That's not correct, not all the telepeage lanes are height restricted, the far right hand lanes are not AFAIUI.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Megamum, we've travelled with badge and roofbox, and never been overcharged. And no, not all lanes are height restricted.

Finally got a euro cheque as a refund for the overcharge, ok as we have a euro account, but it would be a pain if we had not.
