Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Getting 2 teens (15-17) to the Alps

Poster: A snowHead
Our teens don't finish school until 21st December, and we will need to be in Serre Chevalier before then to sort out our new apartment. I need to get them from Newcastle area to within a reasonable distance. Someone did suggest I get them on a Paris flight and the TGV t OuLx, but flight times don't match the train. Any other suggestions, single way scheduled flights are very expensive.

Do any of the tour ops do their own charter flights from Newcastle to Chambery ? have a look in the holiday brochures and see, it might be that you could get a couple of seats on such a flight

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

You'll be fine to stick them on a charter as one of them is over 16- prob just need a letter from you to say theyre allowed. Or theres a train from Newcastle to Manchester airport- there must be loads of flights from there?

Best suggestion I can come up with involves a fair bit of driving for you, if you want the easiest/cheapest option for the kids. An Easyjet flight from Newcastle into Nice airport. Unfortunately although it's only around 135 miles back to Serre Che, it's all cross country, so about a 3 to 3.5 hour drive.

Or Easyjet to CDG, then tgv to Grenoble? Pick them up from there?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Train to Leeds, bus to Leeds/Bradford airport, Jet2 to Geneva or Chambery?

D G Orf, dates funny with Christmas being a Sunday. Kids would have to leave us again before NewYear. Charter seats imposs from NCL, usually all booked.

Elizabeth B, can't even take them out of school, youngest has mock GCSEs until 21st DEc !!!! Don't think I hadn't thought of that one.

PG, Nice has been tried by us last Winter.

I may try booking a return via Brussels to Turin, seems like cheapest option, or the TGV to Grenoble. Thanks for all suggestions.

Helen Beaumont, I took the train to Charles de Gualle direct from Lyon, also if you book in advance with www.sncf.fr and click under the 'student prices' they have very very reasonable tickets I paid 45 euros return for my 16 month and I. So I'd recommend getting them to Paris CdeG and sticking them on the TGV (now its all under the same roof) its pretty easy.

sarah@alpedhuez, thanks for the tip. I have now noticed though that I can get them to Stansted and onto the new Grenoble flight (it doesn't work with the Turin one though)

I've now booked the flight to Paris, which coincides nicely with a direct train to Grenoble.I just have to wait now to be able to book the train.
